One-Shoulder Tops are the New Off-the-Shoulder Tops
August 12, 2017
One-shoulder tops are the new off-the-shoulder tops. Even though I have been obsessed with off-the-shoulder tops for YEARS, I am not saying this because I am desperate for an alternative to the now supersaturated off-the-shoulder trend. This past spring/summer, off-the-shoulder tops were everywhere. EVERYWHERE!!!I felt like I could no longer stand out with my individual style because off-the-shoulder became so trendy!
Well, this season is all about the one-shoulder top! The cool, clavicle-baring, single-sleeve cousins of my once beloved, off shoulder tops are here to walk us through the painful process of momentarily returning back to fabric-clad shoulders. While off-the-shoulder blouses will continue to hold a special place in my heart (and closet) for the rest of my life, they, no longer ooze the individuality that I so value.
For those of you who feel me and are going through the same struggle--thankfully, we do not need to go cold turkey. Streamlined, side-swooping looks make for eye-catching, one-off ensembles that can be either casual, cocktail hour, or work appropriate thanks to that added coverage. With fall on the horizon, one of the things I like most about this updated take on the off-the-shoulder trend is how well it lends itself to layering.
For this look, I am rocking a late summer outfit. I wore this feminine off-shoulder pinstripe blouse paired with white shorts with a slight high-rise. I am all about statement pieces and this blouse is no exception! There is something about the exaggerated details combined with one-shoulder details that create a statement! Try out this top, or one similar, with ripped skinny jeans for a chic ensemble, a flowy skirt for a more romantic look, wide leg slacks for a polished appeal, or with shorts while it is still hot.
