When you think feathers on clothing, you typically think formalwear, right? For as long as I can remember, such luxurious accents have long been reserved for special nights out when couture evening gowns and glittering minaudière took the place of your comfy sweats and relaxed tees--but all of that is changing! Be prepared for current fashion to ruffle your feathers. Feathers are no longer just for costumes or haute couture. Feathers have gone mainstream. Those whimsical plumes are adding much needed drama to the casual athleisure/sportswear that has been taking up more and more of fashionistas closet space this season!
This creates a unique fusion of sportswear: modern and glamorous aesthetics to create a statement-making sweatshirt. My sweatshirt features a crew neckline, black feather trim, and long sleeves. The fleece-backed cotton design features a contemporary cropped hem which is trimmed with ostrich feathers for an opulent, floaty effect. I decided to wear mine as a monochromatic ensemble to complete the elevated urban look. To do that, I wore black leather leggings and black caged 5-inch heels.
Oh ,and let's talk about this open cage bag from Klutch Me! (I know the Anndra Neen designed a similar bag seen on countless street style stars--well this one is by far a more sleeker, prettier design with a much more affordable price tag.) This bag is the perfect motivation you need to clean out your purse, LOL! Not only that, but it is incredibly unique and stylish! I have seen see-through, bare-it-all bags in the past, but this hardware handbag is truly one-of-a-kind. The toughness of the metal would look stunning juxtaposed with a soft, flirty look as well as an urban chic look--like my outfit here.
What do you think of the feathered sweatshirt look? What about the bare-all, open cage bag?
